[Thinkpad] Friend seeks TP model advice

Ladies and Gentlemen:

    A friend, formely a Vaiaoaiaaoiao (or however you spell it) user, 
writes:

I need it primarily for word processing, e-mail, filing, in-office networking.  Will need CD/DVD combo, both RW; wifi; full-size keyboard; 14-15" screen; under 5 lbs.; serial port for ancient Palm hot=sink cradle (or maybe I can get a new, USB cradle for the Palm??); might need parallel port for printer (will check printer this weekend).  


What model TP would suit his needs?  He's looking to spend up to $2,000.
