Do me a favor: download the utility at
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/release/0200/mm0200.zip
and try it on a thinkpad or two. Run some CPU intensive programs and see
if the results you get track what you think should be happening. I've
tried the utility on 3 different thinkpad models, and I believe it works.

As for the heat issue with the T20, it is a T20 retrofitted w/ a 1G
processor. In certain situations (i.e., high CPU load for extended
period) it will shut itself off. No warning, just turns off. This is
repeatable. It corresponds to the same situations that the utility
referred to above shows very high temps. Like Shingo, I see temps in
excess of 90c. The highest I've seen is 97c, but I have not set it up to
monitor to shut-off. What I do see is that the frequency will step down
at higher temps, e.g. when it exceeeds 95c the frequency will drop even if
it is working at full load w/o any slack. My guess is that if the temp
spikes too high, there is some kind of protective response that just shuts
everything off.

The air coming out of the vent is very hot, but not hot enought to burn.
Actually, I think one of the problems is that the fan just doesn't move
eough air; the air voloume is noticably less that my T30.
