Bad for Li-Ions.

As rarely as possible. Once a month should be all right, mostly needed
to calibrate the internal "battery fuel gauge".

And keep it cool. Temperature is your enemy.

Yup, one important thing:
Only load the battery fully, if you plan to use it (allright, this is
sometimes not possible).
At other times, load it to 40% and store it away from the laptop.
See figure one of the first link below, it is really scary (20% vs. 4%
capacity loss in one year).
